As for roads, noise associated with railways can also be divided into the following :

  • Assessment of new railway (both passenger or freight) or upgrades and modifications to existing railways.
  • Assessment of noise received at proposed lots and residences within subdivisions.
  • Assessment of noise received at proposed residential or other noise sensitive premises (apartment, hotels, student accommodation etc).

As for roads, other noise sensitive premises include such usages as schools and child care centres.

Again, as for roads, although the above related to differing projects and types of projects they are again, all assessed under State Planning Policy 5.4.

As for roads, monitoring of existing train movements is also required. However, unlike for road assessments, monitoring can be undertaken at any time.
